The Ellicottville Brewery, Ellicottville, NY, (2006)
Our family adopted the ski village of Ellicottville, NY as our mini retreat some years ago. It is perfect a quick getaway where you feel like you are further away than you really are!
In keeping with the pub theme, I sized up the Ellicottville Brewery. We always had a good time there and it is one of the most popular places in town. I also just liked the way the purple siding complemented the cedar tones nearby!
Dr. Lalli made the drive with me to compose the photo references for this painting (a memory I will always have). We had to wait a bit for the many cars blocking the view to clear a bit. Eventually, it narrowed down to one so we began our shoot. Turns out, the car belonged to the owner of the Brewery!
You may get the feel that the old oak tree was in its dying days at the time of this picture. Indeed it was as it is no longer there. I am glad I caught it when I did as it helped to frame my center of interest. Another lucky break!
