Get ready for a night of SPOOKTACULAR festivities at this year’s Witches Ball at The Statler on Saturday, October 29 from 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Spicy, a branding and digital ad agency founded by Jeffrey Heras and Joe Babcock, collaborated with local artists to conceptualize and create an art experience that is quickly becoming a favorite among Witches Ball party-goers. “We are excited to once again be partnering with Local Matters and Buffalo Rising to bring attention to some awesome emerging talent here in Buffalo,” said Heras. Buffalo’s best immersive Halloween experience features an art mural installation by artists: Kelly Kresconko, Avanna Duff, Laike Palermo and Eugene Sims. Guests are encouraged to interact with the art installation by taking a selfie with their favorite artwork.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Laike Palermo Color Management Specialist – Pencil in the River Studio

Originally from Oswego, NY Laike Palermo moved to Buffalo to pursue a BFA in painting from Daemen University. Her process in painting human figures and portraits have led Palermo to nurture her own identity and create works that speak to her struggles with depression, anxiety and self-doubt. She often uses herself as a model to depict sexually demure poses that speak to the objectification of women’s bodies in media and society. Palermo hopes that her work will empower other women to renew their sense of self and encourage them to love themselves as they are.
