I view each blank canvas as an exciting new challenge where, color, texture and composition ultimately combine to create something unexpected and when a random brush stroke or paint splash becomes the explanation point that signals the paintings completion.
My inspiration comes from nature, travel locations, architecture and the dynamic experiences encountered during an exciting career in the advertising business both in Chicago and in Western New York.
My art reflects what I see in the world and attempts to convey something new by capturing the feeling, aura or sense of a subject. Each composition evolves naturally as I work through every layered stage until the image is complete. I am careful not to overwork or belabor a painting, as it can become the difference in the creation of a compelling composition versus a painting that appears stiff and lacking in flow and spontaneity.
